WHAT is Campus Crime Stoppers?

In January 2009, the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office School Resource Officer Unit and the Forsyth County School Safety Department implemented a program, known as “Campus Crime Stoppers”. Campus Crime Stoppers provides an avenue for students to submit anonymous tips about non-urgent illegal activity, such as unsolved cases, vandalism, theft, the sale and distribution of drugs, possession of weapons or information about crimes that are being planned on their schools’ campuses.

WHY is Campus Crime Stoppers Important?

The goal of Campus Crime Stoppers is 100% safe schools. This involves more than just taking anonymous tips. Kids today are faced with a lot of dangers, dating violence, internet predators, bullying, drugs, underage drinking and more. We strive to give students access to people and services that can make them safe from all kinds of threats. Campus Crime Stoppers is a unique program to get students involved in keeping their school safe. It’s a joint effort between the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, Forsyth County Board of Education and the community to keep the threat of violence, illegal drugs, and weapons and other dangerous activity off our school campuses.

HOW do students get information about Campus Crime Stoppers?

Campus Crime Stoppers is publicized at individual Middle and High School campuses. Students can obtain pocket cards from their school with instructions on how to anonymously submit tips, to include text messaging. Campus Crime Stoppers empowers students to do the right thing and create a safe environment for learning.

HOW does Crime Stoppers work?

Campus Crime Stoppers will provide the Sheriff’s Office and the School System with critical information to investigate crimes and other safety issues. The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office and the Forsyth County School Safety Department have a valuable day to day working relationship, enabling both governmental agencies to focus on the safety and security of Forsyth County’s youth.
