P.R.I.D.E. Information

The Georgia Teens Ride with P.R.I.D.E. (Parents Reducing Injuries and Driver Error) program was created by the Georgia Traffic Injury Prevention Institute (GTIPI) in an effort to reduce the high number of crashes, injuries and fatalities involving teen drivers in the state of Georgia. As of September 30th, 2017 GTIPI will cease operations for the P.R.I.D.E. Program. For a variety of reasons, UGA did not seek renewal funding of GTIPI for the year beginning October 1st, 2017.

Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office has been involved with the P.R.I.D.E. Program since its inception in 2003. It has been such a welcomed program in the Forsyth County community over the past several years, that close to every class that has been organized and held, has had full capacity registration. Our Sheriff’s Office has won numerous awards over the years for implementing P.R.I.D.E. as a traffic safety program for our community, and we have received rave reviews from parents and teens alike. The Forsyth County Courts, (Traffic Court ~ Solicitor’s Office and Juvenile Court) have also invested in the program, by sending traffic violator’s to our classes for memory refreshing, as to how to "correctly" utilize the privilege of their driving rights.

This was difficult news for our agency to receive, as it came suddenly and without warning. So, in an effort to move forward with such successful community programs & resources, the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office will begin branding a Forsyth County version of the P.R.I.D.E. Program. As this new program is in pre-planning stages, we do not have details or dates available at this time. Please continue to check back, and subscribe to the Sheriff's Office Facebook page, for updates as they become available.

Please Note:

Classes were originally scheduled through December 2017, but came to an end in September 2017 as we had to bid farewell to a dynamic community program. The last Forsyth County Sheriff's Office P.R.I.D.E. class was held on August 31st, 2017.
